Troy stops Anderson on a fourth down run attempt to holds on to a 41-35 win.
TROY — Survive and advance is the name of the game in the playoffs, and Troy literally did that on Friday night. The Trojans outlasted Cincinnati Anderson by a final score of 41-35 in a regional quarterfinal game and will advance to play Miamisburg in a second-round game.
Though the Trojans jumped out to a 41-14 lead early in the third quarter, the Redskins’ defense came alive in the last quarter and a half. After scoring 21 unanswered points, Anderson got an interception at the 2-yard line and drove down the field, but the Trojans defense stopped Anderson QB Jay Volpenhein when he ran up the middle on a fourth down play.
