The following players from Ohio high schools play for schools in the 68-team field in the NCAA tournament.
Tulsa travelled to Wright State for an opening-round game in the College Basketball Invitational last night at the Nutter Center. Wright State won its first-ever postseason game as an NCAA Division I program by beating the Hurricanes 72-52. Raiders shoot 33 percent from the field against UIC and drop second consecutive game for the first time this season.
FAIRBORN — The Nutter Center was packed full of a season-high 8,065 fans last night for Wright State’s annual “Blackout Night” in a game against Illinois-Chicago. Over 5,000 black tee-shirts were given out to fans at the gates, which many wore during the game.
The only thing blacked out in the game was Wright State’s offense.
The Raiders shot 18-of-54 (33.3 percent) from the field in the game in a 55-49 loss to UIC. The loss was the second consecutive for the Raiders (14-7, 5-3 Horizon League), marking the first time Wright State has dropped back-to-back games this season. [Read more…]
Raiders improve to 3-0 for first time in ten years heading into Utah Thanksgiving Tournament.
FAIRBORN — Winning solves problems, and though Wright State head coach Billy Donlon said the Raiders have plenty of problems to fix, winning is helping to solve some of the Raiders’ early-season inefficiencies.
Wright State won its first home game of the 2012-2013 season last night in a 56-44 win over North Carolina A&T (1-2) in front of 3,726 fans at the Nutter Center, capitalizing on 17 turnovers and poor shooting by the Aggies. The Raiders improved to 3-0 with the win, which is Wright State’s first 3-0 start since the 2002-2003 season.
“I feel good about our record,” Donlon said after the game. “But we’ve got a lot of work to do. The upside is… we started on the ground floor. We’re on the ground floor, and… our team’s ceiling is very high. I’ve coached teams in the past where you’re getting everything out of them and you’re winning these kinds of games by four points… or maybe you’re losing them.” [Read more…]
