Trojans score runs in sixth and seventh to come back and beat Miami East 6-5.
SOUTH CHARLESTON — Southeastern scored one run in both the sixth and seventh innings to complete a 6-5 comeback win over Miami East in a nonleague game.
Austin Snodgrass started the seventh with a single to center field for Southeastern. Gunter Gearhart followed two batters later with a single to left field that moved Snodgrass to third base. Eli Tuttle hit a grounder to shortstop two batters later, and Snodgrass scored from third to win the game.
Tuttle scored the tying run in the sixth inning after throwing error from Miami East.
The Vikings had 11 hits in the game but committed five errors. Miami East scored two runs in the top of the first to take an early lead and led 4-0 after scoring two more in the third. The Trojans answered with four runs in the third to tie the game.
Snodgrass was 2-for-4 for Southeastern with one RBI. Trevor King also went 2-for-4. Andrew Lyons picked up the win on the mound for Southeastern.
Colton McKinney went 3-for-4 for the Vikings, and Braxton Donaldson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Freshman Colton Purves picked up the loss on the mound.
Southeastern (10-12) returns home tomorrow night for an OHC game against West Liberty-Salem.
Baseball: Shawnee 12, Stebbins 0
Shawnee jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back against the Indians.
Andrew Tincher threw all seven innings for the Braves. He stuck out five batters and allowed only three hits on the mound while also hitting 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
Seth Gray went 2-for-3 for Shawnee and walked twice. He scored four runs and batted in one. Nathan Bostick went 2-for-4, and Drew Fultz went 2-for-5.
Ryan Lowe went 2-for-3 for Stebbins.
Shawnee (13-10) travels to Greenon on Thursday.
Softball: Northeastern 3, Mechanicsburg 1
Kaitlyn Moore struck out 12 batters and limited the Inidans to five hits in Northeastern’s 3-1 win. It’s the 16th win in a row for the Jets, who were voted the number one seed in the Dayton Div. II sectional last Sunday.
Mechanicsburg’s run came in the first inning off of a fielding error. The Jets tied the game with a run in the second and scored two runs in the fourth.
Casey Moore went 2-for-3 for Northeastern and scored one run. Ely King went 1-for-3 and batted in two runs.
Northeastern (18-3) travels to London on Thursday for a nonconference game.
Baseball: Bellefontaine 6, Northeastern 0
Northwestern had three hits in the game, while the Chieftains piled on four runs in the top of the first and never looked back in the nonconference game.
Cole Braun went 2-for-2 for Bellefontaine with two RBIs, and Lane Wisner went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
The Jets dropped to 12-9 with the loss.
