Dick Groeber’s weekend football weather forecast for Springfield, Ohio area for September 11.
A welcome change in the area weather conditions is in store for the local and area high school and university football contests.
A cold front moved through the Springfield region on Wednesday with rain showers and thunderstorms. It ended the prolonged period of heat and humidity, along with scattered rain and thunderstorms. Even though a few rain showers may still be seen Friday evening, lower temperatures around 70 degrees and lower humidity will make the area kickoff times of 7:00 p.m. much more comfortable.
The local and area high school football contests for Friday evening, September 11th (Patriot’s Day) include:
The Springfield Wildcats at Hilliard Darby
Bellbrook is at the Tecumseh Arrows
Dayton Carroll is at the Shawnee Braves
West Liberty-Salem is at the Kenton Ridge Cougars
Middletown Christian is at the Greenon Knights
Northeastern is at Dayton Stebbins
The Northwestern Warriors travel to Mechanicsburg to play the Indians
Bradford travels to play the Catholic Central Irish
Madison Plains travels to Southeastern.
On Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. the Ohio State Buckeyes open their home season after their on the road victory last Monday, September 7th (Labor Day) at Virginia Tech. They host (for the first time) the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
The weather for Saturday looks even better, with sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees. This will be a brief touch of fall.
The Wittenberg Tigers take a bye this weekend.
I hope you enjoy the more pleasant weather conditions but the football games as well. Hopefully, your favorite team will win!
