Kenton Ridge beat Springfield 3-2 in extra innings in a nonconference game on Tuesday at Ed Foulk Field. Springfield took an early 2-0 lead before Kenton Ridge scored the next three runs in win in eight innings. It was the Cougars’ first game of the season. Springfield dropped to 0-2 with the loss. Fairborn’s box-and-one against Moeller partially worked. The Skyhawks held Moeller’s leading scorer Grant Bensinger scoreless for most of the game. Unfortunately for the Skyhawks, Moeller had no problem scoring with other players. Junior center Nate Fowler led the Crusaders with 22 points as Moeller beat Fairborn 55-43 in a Division I district final at the Cintas Center. Adam Gigax added 14 points for Moeller, who shot 56 percent from the field in the game. Jordan Michael led Fairborn with 15 points. Moeller advances to play the winner of Wilmington vs. Middletown.
Two free throws from Kendrick Mallory and a steal-and-score after the foul shots lifted Trotwood to a 51-50 win over LaSalle in a Division I district final on Saturday at the Cintas Center. Dezhonate Bennett led Trotwood with 23 points. Mallory added 13. C.J. Fleming and Tim Bell scored 15 points for La Salle. Trotwood will play the winner of Saturday’s second Division I district final, Wayne vs. Fairfield, in a regional semifinal on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. LaSalle finished the season 18-6.
Stivers beat Hamilton Badin 68-48 in a Division III district final game at U.D. Arena on Tuesday night. Stivers jumped out to an 11-0 lead. Though Badin made several runs in the game, Stivers never led by less than 10 points in the second half. Robert Caldwell led Stivers with 33 points, while Roderick Caldwell scored 12 points. Isaiah Williams added 10 points and eight rebounds for Stivers. Zach Larkin led Badin with 17 points. Stivers moves on to face the winner of Roger Bacon vs. Miami East in a regional semifinal. Badin finished the season 13-12.
Trotwood-Madison beat Miamisburg 83-67 in a Division I sectional final on Friday at U.D. Arena. Kendrick Mallory led Trotwood with 26 points. Chris Mack added 20 points for Trotwood. Adam Giles led Miamisburg with 20 points. The Vikings jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter. A three-pointer from Jeremy Randolph at the buzzer gave Miamisburg a 24-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Vikings extended their lead to nine points at one point in the second quarter, but Trotwood came storming back. Dezhontae Bennett scored 10 points in the second to help Trotwood claim a 38-31 lead by halftime. Trotwood never trailed the rest of the game.
Urbana beat Sidney 69-56 in a nonconference game last night. Alex Niswonger led Urbana with 18 points, while Eric Beigel led Sidney with 19. Sidney took an early lead before Urbana went on a 10-2 run to close the first quarter. The Hillclimbers extended their lead to 13 points at halftime. Sidney narrowed the deficit to eight points midway through the fourth quarter but never came closer. The win was the fourth in five days for Urbana, who was voted the top seed in the Springfield Division II sectional on Tuesday.

Springfield beat Tippecanoe 63-54 in a nonconference game on Saturday night. The Wildcats outscored Tippecanoe 24-11 in the fourth quarter to earn the come-from-behind victory. Dae’Shawn Jackson led Springfield with 23 points, while Danny Davis added 19. Ben Stucke led the Red Devils with 15 points. Springfield returns to action on Monday at Piqua.
Springfield beat Wayne 69-67 on Wednesday night with a last-second three-pointer from Henry Alexander. Springfield finished the game on a 9-3 run over the last two minutes.
